Bloomfield Hills, died Jan. 10, 2005.
He was a commercial real estate broker
and agent for 56 years for the M.E.
Arden Co. As president for the com-
pany, he negotiated the sale of the old
Temple Beth El on Woodward and
the Lighthouse Tabernacle Temple. A
highly decorated World War II veter-
an, Mr. Lawson earned two Purple
Hearts. He served over three years in
the Pacific Theater in the Philippines,

Okinawa and
Guam.
Mr. Lawson
was a fourth-
generation active
supporter of
Temple Beth El
and was named a
Mitzvah Model.
He served as a
Lawson
president pf the
brotherhood from 1971-1972, insti-
tuted the first blood drives at temple
and provision for volunteers at local
hospitals on major Christian holidays.
He also served on the board of trustees
and the religious school committee.
He was a life-long member of the
Chautauqua Society, the Keidan
Lodge of B'nai B'rith and supported
the Glazer institute, the High Holiday
Angels and the national and local
Holocaust museums. He and his wife
sponsored the Rabbi Richard C. Hertz
Institute on Reform Judaism. In 1997,
the Ellin and Harold Lawson Youth
Institute was established at Temple
Beth El, providing a weekend oppor-
tunity for students to learn and engage
in community service. He was also a
member of the Romeo Luncheon
Club.
Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife
of 56 years, Ellin Suzanne Arden
Lawson of Bloomfield Hills; sons,
John Arden Lawson and William
George Lawson, both of Bloomfield

Hills.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park
