was the theme at the West
Bloomfield JCC on Sunday as
dozens of people strolled through the
Center Fitness Club gym to collect
some important
medical information
and have a little
fun. Doctors, spe-
cialists and health
care experts were on
hand at the Family
Health Fair to
answer questions
about everything

"We've never had
a health fair here before and I
thought it would be a good thing to
do for our members and the commu-
nity," said Nancy Tashman, health
and wellness coordinator for the
Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit.

Bloomfield stood in line to get a
spinal screening with HealthQuest of
Farmington, while Roslyn Schneider
visited another booth to get informa-
tion about taking a refresher course in
CPR. Other participants had their
blood pressure checked, took part in
vision and dental screenings and even
talked with West Bloomfield Police
about home safety.
"I think there's a lot here people
can benefit from," said Glen
Bassirpour of Waterford. He stopped
at the fair after working out in the fit-
ness center.
Spotted in the crowd were Nancy
Kramer of Farmington Hills and
Rena Wancjer, Alicia Pearlman, Lisa
Schneider and Jordan Glass, all of
West Bloomfield. Dr. Mark Selitsky
and Dr. Irvin Kappy were there on
behalf of Henry Ford Medical Center
in West Bloomfield. Doctors Lon
Katz and Steven Friedman were there
representing Walnut Lake OB/GYN.
In all, there were 40 exhibiters.
Tracy Proghovnick, with Jewish
Home and Aging Services, came to
spread and important message about
fitness and exercise during any stage
of life. "Our motto is: If you don't use
it, you lose it," she said.
