come in pajamas will receive a special
treat.

program is open to the community.
By remembering Rashi on his 900th
yahrtzeit, hopefully we will not only
come to a better understanding of his
life, but we will help him further his
goal of teaching Torah to the Jewish

The Shul Hosts Shabbaton

The Shul will have a Shabbaton with
Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe, "A Journey of
Past and Future," starting Jan. 21.
On Friday, Jan. 21, service will be
at 5:30 p.m.; dinner will be at 6:15
p.m. The rabbi's topic that evening
will be "Genetic Engineering;
Designer Babies."
Costs are $18 for adults and $10
for children; sponsorships of $180
include four adults; $360 . includes a
table.
On Saturday, Jan. 22, services will
be at 9:30 a.m.; Kiddush at noon.
The afternoon topic will be "Who's
in Charge? Freedom of Choice and
Divine Direction."
Rabbi Yaffe is a rabbi in West
Hartford, ,Conn., Jewish chaplain to
the Hartford Fire Department, a
member of the Rabbinical Responder
Team at ChabadOnlinee -and a contin-
uing legal education lecturer.

Alliance Slates Zimriyah

Two-hundred children will come
together in song when the
Federation's Alliance for Jewish
Education hosts the New Zimriyah!
2005, featuring Jewish youth choirs
from various day schools and congre-
gations in metro Detroit.
The event will be held 1:30-3:30
p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. Admission is free and
light refreshments will be served.
There is no charge.
Among the choirs participating
will be Congregation Adat Shalom,
Congregation Beth Shalom, Congre-
gation B'nai Moshe, Congregation
Chaye Olam, Congregation Shaarey
Zedek, Congregation Shir Tikvah,
Hebrew Day School of Ann Arbor,
Temple Beth El, Temple Emanu-El,
Temple Israel and Temple Shir
Shalom. Musical interludes will be
provided by the Kidz Klez Band of
Michigan.
