age children from 850 Ethiopian families to enroll in
school, considered to be a critical factor in breaking the
cycle of poverty for that vulnerable population.

Amanda Sally Alexander will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at Temple Shir

Jan. 15. She is the

Amanda is a student at Bloomfield
Hills Middle School. Her mitzvah
projects include helping fourth-graders
with their Hebrew at temple, deliver-
ing library books to nursing homes
and helping out at OATS, an organiza-
tion that does physical therapy horse-
back riding.

Adam Philip Beckerleg will celebrate
his bar mitzvah as he reads from the
Torah at Temple
Israel Friday, Jan. 14.
He is the son of

Beckerleg. His proud

Township. Among his mitzvah proj-
ects, he volunteered at Leader Dogs for
the Blind and at Temple Israel's Labor
Day picnic. He plans to donate a por-
tion of his bar mitzvah gifts to help the
homeless.

mitzvah projects; she also made dona-
tions to a food bank.

Corey Samuels Rosen of Farmington
Hills will be called to the Torah as a
bar mitzvah Saturday, Jan. 15, at
Temple Kol Ami. He
will be joined by his
parents, Robin and
Roy, and sisters
Katie, Karen and
Kelli. Corey is the
grandchild of Adele
Samuels of
Southfield and Fred
and Evelyn Rosen of
West Bloomfield. He is also the grand-
son of the late Harold Samuels.
Corey attends Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington
Hills. He enjoyed spending time as
part of the Friendship Circle. He also
made donations to the Jewish National
Fund, Yad Ezra in Berkley and
American Red Magen David for Israel.

Justin Lawrence Rostker, son of Jill
and Gregory Rostker and brother of
Bradley, will celebrate his bar mitzvah

seniors at the monthly birthday parties
at Fleischman Residence in West

Israel during Mitzvah Day, making
lunches for the homeless.
