I F

ongtime WXYZ-TV reporter Cheryl Chodun spoke
. about the media's responsibility to the public to 55 mem-
bers of Hadassah's Eleanor Roosevelt group at a brunch at
Hadassah House in West Bloomfield on Sunday, reminding lis-
teners that while local television news stations always strive to be
No. 1 in the ratings, they also aim to "get it right."
Chodun, who is Jewish and going on 17
years on the air, also entertained questions
from the audience. She currently works
evenings and specializes in hard news —
which often involves the shootings and other
crime stories that lead the broadcast. But
"there are good stories" in every newscast as
well, she insists.
Spotted in the crowd were Brenda Altus,
Carol Shuster, group president Jackie Cohen
and Susie Barr, all of West Bloomfield; Evelyn
GAIL
Freeman
and Roz Klein of Farmington Hills;
ZIMMERMAN
Rhonda
Lepsetz
of Southfield; Sharon
Arts Editor
Goldenberg of Huntington Woods; Judy
Goodman of Bloomfield Township; Esther Allweiss Ingber of
Oak Park; and Greater Detroit Chapter president Sue Luria of
Bloomfield Hills. 0
