King Day Dinner Set

Adat Shalom Synagogue will mark
Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a "We
Have a Dream" Dinner Monday, Jan. 17.
The evening will begin with a
spaghetti dinner and move into a variety
of tikkun olam (saving the world) expe-
riences.
Projects begin at 6:30 p.m., includ-
ing packing school bags with supplies
and bookmarks for inner-city schools,
creating get-well cards for local hospi-
tals, making a video to send to the syna-
gogue's partner school in Nazareth Illit,
Israel, creating terrariums for seventh-
graders to take with them when they
lead a Tu b'Shevat seder at a local senior
center, and creating baskets of toiletries
for AIDS patients.
The dinner is optional. There is a
$5.15 per person dinner price (of which
3 percent of which will go to MAZON
— the Jewish Response to Hunger). In
addition, each participant is asked to
bring one toiletry item or school supply.
The community is welcome.
Respond no later than Jan. 14. The
event is sponsored by the synagogue's
