Lexie Danielle Garfield-Turner will cel-
ebrate her bat mitzvah Saturday, Jan. 8,
as she reads from the
Torah at
Congregation Shaarey
Zedek Southfield. She
is the daughter of Inez
Garfield and Lee
Turner. Lexie has one
sister, Fallon, and two
brothers, Adam and
Steven. Proud grand-
mother is Henny Garfield. She is also the
granddaughter of the late Leo Garfield
and the late Shirley and the late Irving
Turner.
Lexie is an honor student at Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. Some of her mitzvah
projects include volunteering with the
Friendship Circle and visiting with JARC
residents and Fleischman Residence sen-
iors in West Bloomfield.

Harry Samuel Meisner (Hersh Baer
Shmuel) of Cincinnati, will be called to
the Torah as a bar
mitzvah Saturday, Jan.
8. He is the son of
Pamela and David P.
Meisner and brother
of Meryl, Louie,
Nathan, Herbert and
Ivan. His proud
grandparents are
Hotche Pastor of
Cincinnati and Lillian and Irving
Meisner of Southfield.
Harry is an eighth-grade student at
Wyoming Middle School in Cincinnati.
His mitzvah project is to help buy a piece
of equipment for Aleh, a school for the
disabled in Jerusalem. He also does com-
munity service with children in the
Cincinnati area and helped cook and
serve at a local soup kitchen.

Max Jacob Rashes will read from the
Torah on the occasion of his bar mitzvah
at Congregation Beth
Israel in Ann Arbor
Saturday, Jan. 8.
Joining in his simchah
will be his parents,
Laurie and Haran
Rashes, and his sisters
liana and Annie. Max
is the grandson of
Carolyn and Paul
Lichter of Ann Arbor and Elaine and
Alan Rashes of Lake Bomoseen, Vt. Also
celebrating with Max will be three of his
great-grandparents, Buena Lichter and
Sylvia Goode of Southfield and David
Rashes of Delray Beach, Fla.
Max is a seventh-grader at Clague
Middle School in Ann Arbor. For his

Katherine Sherbin will become a bat
mitzvah Friday, Jan. 7, at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, Southfield. She is the
daughter of Aaron and
Elizabeth Sherbin and
sister of Caroline,
Meredith and Grace.
Katherine is an
honor student at
Derby Middle School
in Birmingham. For
her mitzvah project,
she created teen sur-
vival backpacks for patients at Children's
Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

Joshua David Velick, son of Marla and
Ken Velick, will read from the Torah on
the occasion of his bar mitzvah, Saturday,
Jan. 8, at Temple Israel. He is the broth-
er of Marni and the grandchild of
Temmie and Donald
Velick and Idell
Colish. He is also the
grandson of the late
Emanuel Colish.
Joshua is an honor
student at Warner
Middle School in
Farmington Hills. As
part of his mitzvah
projects, he assisted residents at
Fleichman Residence in West Bloomfield
on Thursday nights with bingo games
and is donating funds to the Rainbow
Connection, an organization that grants
wishes w terminally ill children.

Daniel Ryan Wasserman (Daniel
Ra'anan) of West Bloomfield will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Jan. 8, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He is the son of Marcy and
Brad Wasserman and
the brother of Scott
and Rachel. Proud
grandparents are
Beverly and Ralph
Woronoff of West
Bloomfield, Audrey
and Jack Chase of
Detroit, and Larry
and Bobbi Wasserman
of Naples, Fla. He is the great-grandson
of Dorothy Sweet.
Daniel is an honor student at Orchard
Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield.
His mitzvah projects included volunteer-
ing at Yad Ezra in Berkley and at JARC,
preparing and serving meals during the
Housing the Homeless project at Adat
Shalom, and packing and delivering sha-
lach manot baskets at the Great Purim
Parcel Project.
