Subsidized youth dental care provider earns
Jewish Fund honors.

he Children's Dental Health
Foundation (CDHF) received
the Robert Sosnick Award of
Excellence at the Jewish Fund's 2004
annual meeting.
The Foundation was incorporated in
1999 by two Jewish dentists, Dr.
Margo Woll and Dr. Marcy Borofsky,
to provide subsidized dental care serv-
ices to children who are uninsured or
unable to pay for dental care.
Low-income and minority children
experience a disproportionate level of
oral health problems. More than 50
the Mobile Dentists, has provided
20,000 dental visits in 1,000 schools
since 1996.
"Tooth decay is the most common
infectious childhood disease — an
especially troubling fact because it is
largely preventable," said Jewish Fund
Chair David Page.
The Children's Dental Health
Foundation has developed an effective
and efficient way to provide dental
care to low-income children by treat-
ing them in school. This avoids the
problem of whether the parents are

CDHF provides dental services
through school-based health clinics in
the Detroit Public Schools, though a
community clinic at Crockett
Technical High School in Detroit and
through the related statewide Mobile
Dentists program. CDHF, along with
