Jacob Lester Freeman, son of Gary
and Stefany and brother of Spencer
and Bradley, will celebrate his bar mitz-
vah on Saturday,
Dec. 18, at Temple
Beth El.
Celebrating with
Jacob will be his
grandparents Dr.
Melvin Lester and
Barbara and Dr.
Dennis Freeman. In
their hearts will be
Jacob's late grandmother Geri Lester.
Jacob is an honor student at
Birmingham Covington School. As
student chairperson of the 2004 Gilda's
Family Walk, participant in the STEP
program for autistically impaired chil-
dren and volunteer at JARC, Jacob has
fulfilled many mitzvot while studying
for his bar mitzvah.

Amanda Arin Horwitz, daughter of
Susie and Dennis Horwitz, will cele-
brate her bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Dec. 18, at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek Southfield. She is the sister of
Eric and the grand-
daughter of the late
Rita and Manny
Cutler. She is also
the granddaughter
of Eleanor and the
late Lee Horwitz,
who remain in the
family's thoughts.
Amanda attends
Warner Middle School in Farmington
Hills. Her most meaningful mitzvah
project was donating her hair to Locks
of Love. She also worked at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek day camp
and made a charitable contribution to
the Alzheimer's Association.

Jeremy Ezra Kaplan, son of Helayne
and Jeffrey Kaplan and brother of
Carly and Marissa, will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah Saturday, Dec.
18, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He is
the grandson of
Lenore and Gilbert
Kaplan and Esther
and Aaron Kraft.
Jeremy is an
honor student at
Berkshire Middle
School in Beverly
Hills. His mitzvah project was to co-
chair the Adat Shalom Mitzvah Clown
Program with his cousin; this group
entertains children and seniors at loca-
tions throughout the area.
