greeted 100 worshippers as
they arrived for Shabbat serv-
ices at the Ann Arbor Chabad House
last Saturday.
"We were very upset and stunned
that something like this would hap-
pen here in Ann Arbor and, no mat-

menorah had been placed in front of
the Chabad House for the last 20

to destroy the menorah, we have
another one."
The rabbi said the menorah was
made from heavy plastic PVC pipe.
The vandals smashed it extensively;
it wasn't "just knocked over or
blown down by the wind."
Larry Baitch, past treasurer of the
Ann Arbor Orthodox Minyan, was
very upset by the vandalism.
"So far, there hasn't been much
howling about it from this liberal'
community," wrote Baitch in an e-
mail. "It's not like it was vandalism
of a mosque or anything... just Jews,
and we're used to it, right?" I I
