"I am totally not a camper," says Jennifer. Yet she kept hearing about how great family camp is, and she soon "found myself signing up before I knew what I was doing." There was a list of stuff to bring. She followed it. Sort of Mattler decided she would need a few extra items not exactly on the list. Items like paper towels and cleaning supplies. "Why I brought cleaning products is beyond me," she now admits. "But I just could not be with- out nay 409 and Clorox wipes." She also brought along toilet paper, then arrived and — astonishingly enough — discovered the camp actu- ally had it right there. Mattler lugged along games (totally unnecessary once kids get into the fun of camp, she says), a booster sear (Family Camp provides these) and a lot of snacks, none of which she ate because plenty of food was always available. Among the items the camp suggest- ed bringing were towels. Mattler promptly packed "every towel in my house. The painful part of packing a lot is that you will either have to leave it all behind or repack and return home with it. Mattler and her husband, Bob, chose to donate much of what they brought to the camp. "I did keep the cleaning products, though," Mattler says.
