The Sterling Group restored 8,000 square feet of rare Mumidian marble
flooring in the lobby, acid washed the marble walls and floors and restored the
Monel metal screen containing a Tiffany clock in the mezzanine's grand arch-
way leading into the banking hall. (Monel is an unique composite mix of cop-
per, nickel and aluminum with a taupe-colored finish.)
From the 32nd floor Guardian Room, once the site of a movie theatre, visi-
tors can see the Pontiac Silverdome on a clear day; the Detroit and Windsor vis-
tas are spectacular by night. Samson says he already has inquiries for renting the
Guardian Room for the 2006 Super Bowl. Although interior lighting is com-
plete, new outdoor lighting should be in place by the end of the year, making
the building visible for miles. I
