concerned about society's moral
decay and preserving classical
Judaism," Cherrin said. "Orthodox
Jews shouldn't be smeared for their
aversion to issues like gay marriage.
Beyond politics, there's an informa-
tion gap on homosexuality itself.
The JGN will be a constructive
soundinaz, board and agent of dia-
loaue
b -
Plans for a future of JGN pro-
grams and events are already in the
works.
"We hope to have regular Jewish
and social events that provide
opportunities for gay and lesbian
Jews to share Jewish celebrations
with each other and their straight
friends, family members and allies
on holidays and Shabbat, and to
deepen their learning about
Judaism," Greenapple said. "We also
hope to enjoy each other's company
for purely social events as well."
He sees the JGN as "an organiza-
tion that will nurture the intersec-
tion of our Jewish and GLBT iden-
tities. It will be a virtual meeting
place for us to connect with each
other and for the Jewish and GLBT
communities to connect with us,
she said. "Someday, we hope not to
need this organization, but right
now, GLBT Jews need each other to
help us claim and affirm both
aspects of our identities." I
