Neighbors in the 13 Mile-Evergreen
area of Southfield certainly know
when Chanukah comes around each
year. Mark and Risa Finn won't let
them forget
"My husband is the Tim Allen of
this neighborhood," said Risa, refer-
ring to the television "handyman"
who grew up in Beverly Hills less
than two miles away.
Mark Finn, a salesman, loves the
holidays, especially the Festival of
Lights. The Finns began their lawn
display by building the menorah 10-
12 years ago. They added the dreidel
last year and the Star of David this
season, along with the American flag.
Mark designed the dreidel, which
was constructed by a friend, and Risa
drew the Hebrew letters freehand.

in lights, and the menorah has a new
candle lit for each night of

Chanukah.
The Finns have been active in the
Greentrees North subdivision since
moving into the neighborhood 12
years ago. They have annually hosted
the neighborhood block party, but
may be better known for another
lawn display. Their yard is the focus
of the subdivision Halloween party
each year and becomes a giant ceme-
tery of ghoulish, homemade figures,
including a grave with a Jewish star
for "Frank N. Stein."
Their garage and basement serve as
storage areas for the displays, and the
family cars remain out on the drive-
way year-round.
The Finns' children are a little
bemused by it all. "The girls are a lit-
tle older now," Risa says of Nicole,
19, and Courtney, 18. "But Josh [14]
is still into it."
