orating the liberation from Czarist
imprisonment of Rabbi Schneur
Zalman of Liadi, founder of the
Chabad-Lubavitch movement and
author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch
HaRay.
The event will be 7:30 p.m.

Rabbi Elyahu Noson Silberberg, cosh
yeshiva of Lubavitch Mesivta of
Chicago, will speak on "Yud Tes Kislev:
Its Relevance in the Twenty First
Century" and will conduct a Chasidic
farbrengen. There will be live music,
Chasidic dancing and a video presenta-
tion on The Lubavitcher Rebbe and Eretz
Yisroel.

Poverty Teach-In Slated
Congregation Shaarey Zedek in East
Lansing will host a Union of Reform
Judaism movement-wide poverty
teach-in Dec. 3-4.
Identified as a time for rededication
to the fight against poverty, the week-
end will begin with Shabbat services
Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 9
a.m. Following a Saturday luncheon,
there will be a study session titled "The
Challenge of Poverty" from 1-3 p.m.
Saturday Havdalah services will be at 7
p.m.; the program at 8 p.m. will be
"Joining the Fight Against Poverty."
Keynote speakers will be Michael
Stoops, director of community out-
reach at the National Coalition for the
Homeless, and Beverly Wiener, execu-
tive director of Haven House.
The event is sponsored by
Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Kehillat
Israel, Greater Lansing Jewish Welfare
Federation, Hillel and Greater Lansing
Temple Youth.
