Diversity Is Panel Topic

Parents, staff members and communi-
ty members are invited to a Tuesday,
Nov. 16, panel discussion on religious
and cultural diversity. The panel features
Rabbi Joshua Bennett of Temple Israel
in West Bloomfield, Fr. Frank Kalabat
of St. Thomas Chaldean Catholic
Church in West Bloomfield and Imam
Muhammad Musa of the Muslim Unity
Center in Bloomfield Hills.
Panelists will answer questions from
moderator Marc Siegler from the Lakes
Area Community Diversity Council.
Questions include: How are your con-
gregation members affected by the cur-
rent conflicts in the Middle East?
Should religious observances be accom-
modated in the public schools' calen-
dars? What are the major stumbling
blocks in building community relation-
ships?
The panel discussion will be 7-9 p.m.
at Maple Elementary, 7389 W. Maple
(between Haggerty and Halsted) in
West Bloomfield.
The program is the third in a series of
council programs for the school year
under the theme "Building Our Caring
Community: Embracing Diversity."
