steak and chicken on wooden sticks,
served with peanut sauce.
A huge favorite and very ingenious
idea is the placing of basket trays
around the rooms filled with chocolate
fortune cookies for folks to take.
The beautiful coloring and striking
environment amid purple linen table-
cloths and white linen napkins is the
epitome of casual sophistication.
Open since Jan. 17, 2003, it cannot
be considered along with other Chinese
dining spots because of its vast differ-
ence ... Innovative ways of preparing
favorites is an art ... and Pallas Chinese
Restaurant paints a memorable picture.
THAT WON'T BE Bahama Breeze
taking over the space of the former
Anita's Kitchen and present site of
Honey Tree of West Bloomfield.
The new tenant will be California
Pizza Kitchen.
George's Honey Tree, owned by
George Lukaj, is expected to soon open
at his larger new site on Northwestern
Highway, north of 14 Mile, in West
Bloomfield ... In the meantime, his
restaurant is still operating at the same
Orchard Lake Road location.
FIVE DAYS AND A big difference
will soon arrive in the interior appear-
ance change at Ginopolis' On the Hill
restaurant, 12 Mile and Middlebelt in
Farmington Hills.
The "new look" renovation comes
Nov. 7-11, with Ginopolis' closing
those five days and reopening Friday,
Nov. 12.
MAKE IT NUMBER 42 now ... the
amount of competitions it has won
locally and nationally ... Latest might
be the biggest, with almost 3,350 other
worldwide advertising agencies compet-
ing.
Ron Hoffman and his Hoffman &
Associates took the top MarCom
Creative awards, part of the highly-
regarded Communicator Awards ... Its
Platinum Award, the highest, was for
Ron's Kruse and Muer restaurants
advertising ... and the second highest,
the Gold Award, for its ad campaign
promoting Rochester Chop House ...
Honorable mention was for Rocky's of
Northville ... Hoffman & Associates is
not a large ad agency, but it sure stood
tall among the big boys.
THEY WERE CLOSE childhood
friends ... and as the years rolled by, fate
deemed that the three Birmingham
girls from Covington Junior High
would someday be together for a
momentous occasion.
That time came recently when sisters
Jill Rappaport, now a network televi-
sion personality, and Linda Solomon,
localite camera-clicking national star
personage, were together for the signing
of their new book, People We Know,
Horses They Love, at Saks in Troy.
The third gal, Lisa Lapides Sawicki of
Lapides Publicity Giragosian, publi-
cized this and other local events for
them ... still no doubt remembering
when she was 12-years-old and climb-
ing onto Jill's horse, Missy ... Missy
didn't like someone other than Jill rid-
ing her and galloped around the stable
with Lisa clinging desperately to the
saddle horn for dear life.
Another friend, Marcia Nodel, wait-
ed in line 45 minutes for their auto-
graph in her book ... then when finally
next, continued to wait while the two
gals spoke for about 10-15 minutes.
Linda's hubby, Barry Solomon, is
minus 25 pounds and didn't have to
give up his beloved hamburgers ... Just
eats them now without the bun and
uses mustard instead of catsup ...
Shelley Golden, Dell Warner, Irene and
Casey Osborn, proud mother Mona
Rappaport, etc., in a long list of atten-
dees who bought all the books Saks
sold that evening before running out.
AMONG THE MOST unusual
things about "A Night of a Thousand
Stars" by the Parkinson Foundation of
Michigan at Dearborn Inn was it being
priced so that people with the ailment
as well as others could also attend and
enjoy themselves ... The event featured
a lot of entertainment by performers
who donated their talents, plus a silent
auction and dinner.
The group, with Debby Orloff-
Davidson, chief executive officer of
Michigan Parkinson Foundation in
Southfield, and Leonard Borman,
chairman, holds various benefits each
year ... This was its first real cabaret,
but there is a fashion show in the
spring, and Park West Gallery owners
Albert and Mitsie Scaglione have host-
ed an annual event at the Southfield
gallery for the last several years ... The
next one is Saturday, Nov. 20, that'll
feature the raffle of a Harley-Davidson
cycle ... For tickets, call Debby at (248)
433-1011.
CONGRATS ... To Shelly Weiss and
Barbara Rosenfield on their birthdays,
celebrated with a table for eight gals at
Angelo's Bistro in West Bloomfield ...
To Melissa Wolf-Litvin on her birthday.
GOOD WAITRESS DEPT....
Coelette Brown, days at Giorgio's of
West Bloomfield ... Efficient and per-
sonable with a lot of knowledgeable
ability. 0
