And, of course, there's always Harry,
who is constantly fund-raising wherever
he goes.
"He and Sylvia really get it, they see
how important this is," Altman says.
"They are two courageous people.
Many may think this needs to be done,
but how many actually do it?"
Eldest son Alan Grander of
Bloomfield Hills, puts it well: "My par-
ents worked hard all through life. They
were adventurous; they took risks. I
admire what they have done with their
lives.
"When they got older, they looked to

help others — something they instilled
in my brothers and our children — and
they were fortunate enough to have the
financial assets to do something like
this."
Involvement with the camp also helps
keep these octogenarians going.
`After the experience, I'm a changed
person," Sylvia says. "I feel that every
summer."
For Harry, there's a deep spiritual con-
nection.
"I want to satisfy God," he says. "God
wants me to do good deeds. I'm so far
behind, I'll be here a long time."
