A Great Day
For Scouting

ore than 125 Scouts,
prospective Scouts and their
families gathered on a sunny
afternoon Sept. 26 for a cookout and
ropes course at the second annual open
house of Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout
Troop 364 at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
The Jewish community's Scouting
program, chartered by the Adat Shalom
Men's Club, has grown from 35 boys
just a year ago to more than 65 today,
says Scoutmaster Louis Sugarman. And
the groups continue to grow.
This program is becoming a national
model of how boys and leaders from
across the Jewish community can come
together to enjoy Scouting programs,
while enriching their lives as Jews, says
Allen Olender of West Bloomfield, who
is vice chairman for national organiza-
tions for the National Jewish Committee
on Scouting.
Cub Scouts is for boys from first-fifth
grades and Boy Scouts is for boys in
sixth-12th grades.
To find out more about BSA 364, the
upcoming Sukkah campout, Tamarack
weekend or other programming, visit
the Web site: wwvv.BSA364.org
or call Cubmaster Peter Perlman at
(248) 363-5591 or Scoutmaster Louis
Sugarman at (248) 376-4329.
