As the new President of Kadima, it is my pleasure to join Kadima as
we all celebrate 20 years of providing vital services to adults with men-
tal illness. Our benefit on September 28 is our Twentieth Anniversary
Party. And we invite you to come to celebrate with us.
Twenty years ago, our founders had a vision of hope for adults who
might
otherwise slip through the cracks. Kadima's mission then, as it is now,
is to provide security in housing, therapy, structure, proper medication,
vocational training and positive social experiences so that people with
chronic mental illnesses can live with dignity and independence. Your
generous support makes this possible.
As we celebrate our twentieth Anniversary, we embark on a new

effort—to secure the future of Kadima. We have
begun a campaign to raise $5,000,000 for
KADIMA'S OPERATIONAL ENDOWMENT. This
endowment will allow us to continue to meet the
needs of our clients, whether the economy is good
or not, whether our government supports mental
health programs or not! Kadima's Operational
Endowment will be the security blanket we need to
enable us to face the future with confidence.
We invite you to celebrate with us and to be our D. Michael Kratchman
partner in this effort!

KADINIA BEGINS $5 MILLION
OPERATIONAL ENDOWMENT
CAMPAIGN

With a realistic understanding of the growing needs of adults
challenged by mental illness and those waiting for Kadima services,
the Board of Directors of Kadima has embarked on a campaign to
endow Kadima operations with a goal of 5 Million dollars. Several
generous donors have answered the call to move us forward with
commitments of more than $500,000.
Kadima is the only organization in the state of Michigan to pro-
vide the wide range of services that we do on a non-sectarian
basis. "Kadima gives hope, stability and a future to so many who
otherwise would be lost and alone, homeless or in jail." said Doris
August, Development Advisor. "We must make sure that Kadima
can always be there to enrich the lives of those who need us."

experts in the area on various topics such as eating disorders, anxiety dis-
orders, substance abuse, depression, warning signs of suicide and servic-
es available for students in the University community.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
SUPPORTS KADIMA

KADIMA IS AWARDED AN INNOV
ATIVE TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM

On June 15th, Kadima's Clinical Director, Nancy L. Stein,
attended a meeting of the Knights of Columbus where she was
presented with a check to help sup-
plement the clients" activities and
social outings. Nancy was able to
educate the membership about men-
tal illness and the services and pro-
grams that Kadima offers. We are
Nancy Stein with Don Hubbert
very grateful to the Father Kosco
of the Father Ame Kosco Council
Council 12808 for their contribution
12808
to Kadima.

Kadima and Community Network Services have joined together and
opened an innovative transitional home in Waterford, Michigan for adults
struggling with mental illness. The program will serve those individuals
who are in need of an immediate intervention forgoing hospital admission.
The program will be available to consumers for 4 to 8 weeks to help them
stabilize psychiatrically and return to their home and community. The pro-
gram will assist those individuals who may experience difficulties adjust-
ing to their medication, feeling depressed, suicidal and need the extra
assistance temporarily to recover. The home will provide 24 hour staffing
and assist the consumers with their daily living skills, medication change
and stabilization. Ultimately, the goal is to provide intensive clinical serv-
ices to help the individual return to their community.

our most successful yet! Plan on joining us for our 4th Golf Classic,
