Help Fight Cancer

Canoe to Care, a fitness and fund-rais-
ing event, will be held Saturday, Sept.
11, from noon to 4 p.m. at Proud Lake
Recreation Area in Commerce
Township.
Canoe to Care will provide exercise
for all ages, a chance to enjoy the out-
doors and raise funds for education and
support programs at the Charach
Cancer Treatment Center. Located at
Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, the
Charach Center is affiliated with the
Karmanos Cancer Institute.
The ticket price of $25 per person
includes two hours of canoeing on the
Huron River, a picnic and prizes.

or purchased on Sept. 11 at Heavners
Canoe Rental at the Proud Lake Canoe
Rental.
Proud Lake Recreation Area is locat-
ed at 3500 Wixom Road. From 1-96,
take the Wixom exit (Exit 159) six miles
north to the park entrance.

Infants Classes Offered

Parents/caregivers and baby can enroll in
Baby Tot Academy at the Congregation
Shaarey Zedek Eugene and Marcia
Applebaum Center in West Bloomfield.
The academy will offer fall classes for
infants and tots, many beginning the
week of Sept. 20.
Three classes will be Music and
Movement, Music Together, and
Moovin 'N Groovin. A pre-parent tod-

dler class, Fall Fantasy, will introduce
infants to finger plays, stories, creative
projects, socialization through play.
A workshop for new parents will be
facilitated by Teresa Kolasse, parent/
child educator from Kidz Consulting.
Each week, attendees will take a project
and information to use at home.

St. Andrew Episcopal Church, will
address the issue 'Are Faith-Based
Initiatives Legalizing Religious
Discrimination?"
