Community Selichot Slated

Members from Adat Shalom
Synagogue, Congregation B'nai Moshe,
Congregation Beth Ahm and
Congregation Shaarey Zedek will join
On Saturday evening Sept. 11, 2004 at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Southfield for a Selichot program.
The evening will begin at 9:30 p.m.
with Havdalah. Professor Howard
Lupovitch, the Conservative
Movement scholar in residence, will
speak on "American and Israeli Jews:
Do We Still Speak The Same
Language?"
At 11 p.m., Selichot services will be
led by Rabbi Aaron Bergman, Cantor
Earl Berris, Cantor Yevsey Gutman,
Cantor Chaim Najman, Cantor Larry
Veider and Ronn Nadis with the
Shaarey Zedek synagogue choir direct-
ed by Eugene Zweig.
This is open to the entire communi-
ty. Refreshments will be served.

Commerce Services Set

Residents in Commerce Township will
be able to celebrate the new year with
the Chabad Jewish Center of
Commerce. High Holiday services will
be held at 150 Commerce Road on the
corner of Carroll Lake and Commerce
Road.
Services will be held on Rosh
Hashanah Sept. 16-17, 10 a.m. as well
as Kol Nidre, Sept. 24, 7 p.m. and
Yom Kippur Sept. 25, 10 a.m.
Membership is not required to par-
ticipate. Services are free and are open
to all regardless of affiliation. All
prayers will combine the original
Hebrew, as well as translated English.
A special children's program will
accompany the adult services.
