TRADITIONAL
Traditional Judaism, sometimes
referred to as "Conservadox," is
another American offshoot of
Conservatism that shares the
Orthodox perspective on Torah and
Halachah, but is somewhat more
lenient in interpretation.
Traditional Judaism supports free
and open inquiry across all fields of
knowledge in order to deepen under-
standing of God's laws.

RENEWAL

cve&kr4
Renewal Judaism integrates com-
mitment to egalitarianism, ecological
awareness, and progressive politics
with Chasidic mysticism and
Kabbalah. Renewal Jews view the
Torah as a record of spiritual seek-
ers, and they look for the emotional
process underlying the text.
Mitzvot must be examined one at
a time to decide which are binding.
Chant, meditation, dance, the graph-
ic arts and drama are encouraged
alongside more conventional forms
of worship.

HUMANISTIC
Secular-Humanistic Judaism's
non-theistic philosophy views
Judaism as the historical experience
and culture of the Jewish people.
Founded in the 1960s, the move-
ment believes in the power of
human effort and responsibility and
the natural origin of all experiences.
Its liturgy eschews God-language.
Secular-Humanist Jews observe
holidays and some rituals.
