EDITOR'S LETTER
A
few months ago in
my editor's letter, I
hinted that there
would be some
exciting changes in JNPlatinum.
Beginning in October, JN
Platinum will become a bona fide
part of the Jewish News under a
team leadership.
JN Editor Robert Sklar heads
up this exciting development.
"With JN Platinum now under the
banner of the JN family of prod-
ucts, we look forward to enhanc-
ing JN Platinum's role as the pre-
mier chronicle Of Detroit Jewish
community lifestyles," says Sklar.
"From automotive test drives
to eye-catching rooms to restaurant reviews to social event coverage, you'll
find it regularly in JN Platinum under the leadership of Creative Editor
Gail Zimmerman, Associate Editor Alan Hitsky, Story Development Editor
Keri Guten Cohen and Art Director Debbie Schultz," he adds.
As a founding editor of JN Platinum, I'm confident that this team will
direct the focus and create a sharper vision for JN Platinum in a colorful,
fast-paced, breezy way that reinforces this monthly magazine as an
enhancement of your weekly Jewish News.
I look forward to my new role as a consulting editor of JN Platinum, and
I'm excited to devote all my energy to our secular magazine, Style, which is
published six times a year by our parent company, Jewish Renaissance
Media. Style magazine celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2005, so expect to
hear more about our banner year,
In the photo (above), I'm with Arthur Horwitz, JRM president and JN
publisher at the recent Style/FOX2 Favorites party.
Our September issue of JN Platinum includes a four-generation birthday
extravaganza. Speaking of galas, writer Ronit Pinto captures the Fash Bash
scene. Our automotive columnist Harry Kirsbaum revs up the engine in a
2004 canary-yellow 2004 Spyder Maserati.
As we approach autumn, JN Platinum officially joins the JN family, which
includes the JN Community Directory, your annual guide to Jewish Detroit;
JN Online, a regularly updated Web site brimming with news and informa-
tion; and some extraordinary special sections like Nosh and Gift Guide.
I agree with JN Editor Robert Sklar's family approach when he says:
"It's our fervent hope that your family also becomes part of ours through
JN Platinum and the entire family of JN products."
Sincerely,
Carla Schwartz
