She taught arts and crafts for 15 years at Hillel Day School. She was responsible for the painting of the wall panel deco- rations in Hillel's auditorium. She also taught music at Congregation Gill Shaarey Zedek and Hebrew studies at the Jewish Community Center. Mrs. Gill moved back to Israel in 1985 and spent her time working in sales and helping to raise her granddaughters. Mrs. Gill is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Erit Gill-Riek and Eran Riek of Bat Hefer, Israel; granddaugh- ters, Aviv and Idan Riek; mother, Esther Mashiach of Hertzaliya; stepson, Rotem Gill and his wife, Kathy, of West Bloomfield; sisters, Ronit and Revital Mashiach of Israel; brother, Shlomo Mashiach of San Diego. Interment in Har Himenuchot Cemetery in Jerusalem. A program is being developed in Israel to bring joy to children who have cancer. Rose and Abe Winogron Jacob and Danielle, Debbie, Joe, Matthew and Stefanie 867070 88, of Pleasant Ridge, died Aug. 8, 2004. He received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School. Before World War II, he was a draft person designer of military hospital vessels. Entering the Army in 1944, he became a sergeant major and served in the Judge Advocate Gorland Corps in Japan. Following the war, Mr. Gorland was a self-employed attorney and co-owner of a children's clothing store, Trudy and Paul's. He went back to school in 1957 and received a master's degree from New York University in administration. From 1957-1960, he worked as assistant direc- tor of Shenango Valley Regional Planning Commission. From 1960- 1966, he was director of urban city renewal for Terra Haute, Ind. From 1966-1976, he was director of commu- nity improvement for the city of Lincoln Park, Mich., and became a con- sultant for Royal Oak, Detroit and other local communities. Mr. Gorland was the author of Urban Renewal Administration, which was pub- lished by Wayne State University Press. Before his retirement, he worked for Livermore, Calif, as director of commu- nity development and became the direc- tor of economical and industrial devel- opment for County of Solano, Calif After retiring, he was active with substi- tute teaching and writing a weekly col- umn for the Fairfield, Calif, newspaper. He was an active member locally of Temple Emanu-El. Mr. Gorland is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Jennifer Gorland of Pleasant Ridge, Gary Gorland and Joyce Yarrow of Washington, Robert and Elizabeth Gorland of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Eric, Chase, Jackson, Ian, Caroline and Benjamin Gorland. He was the beloved husband of the late Gertrude Gorland. Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.
