Allison Peri Berman will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah Saturday,
Aug. 28, at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek Southfield. Sharing in the
simchah will be her parents, Drs. Julie
and Allen Berman, brother Michael
and sister Stephanie. Proud grandpar-
ents are Norma and Jack Berman of
Farmington Hills. She is also the
granddaughter of
the late Dr. Fredric
and Gloria Rivkin.
Allison is an
honor student at
Orchard Lake
Middle School in
West Bloomfield.
Her most meaning-
ful mitzvah project
was participating in
and collecting money for the annual
AIDS Walk of Metropolitan Detroit.

Shay Alexander Berman will read
from the Torah as he celebrates his
bar mitzvah at Havdalah services
Saturday, Aug. 28, at Temple Israel.
He is the son of Shelley and
Reid Skinner and Dr. Beth and
Andrew Berman.
He is the brother
of Jacklyn, Hailey,
Garet, Taylor and
Sheridan. His
grandparents are
Bernice Berman
and Lorraine and
Joseph Golabek.

He is also the grandchild of the late
John Berman. His proud great-grand-
mother is Esther Kaplan.
Shay attends Meads Mill Middle
School in Northville. As part of his
mitzvah projects, he volunteered at a
retirement home and at Temple
Israel's Purim carnival.

Leah Canvasser, daughter of Joanne
and David Canvasser, became a bat
mitzvah on Saturday, Aug. 21, at
Congregation Beth
David in San Luis
Obispo, Calif. She
is the granddaugh-
ter of Nedra
Kapetansky and
Bob and Beverly
Canvasser, all of
West Bloomfield.
Leah is a student
at Laguna Middle
School in San Luis Obispo. She
worked on a literacy project for the
schools.

Justin Gabriel Cykiert, son of Jay and
Heather Cykiert and brother of
Denise and Ryan, will celebrate his
bar mitzvah Saturday, Aug. 28, at
Congregation Beth Ahm. He is the
grandson of Shirley Arnold and _
Shirley Cykiert and great-grandson of
Morris and Sarah
Galer. He is also
the grandson of the
late Walter Cykiert.
Justin is a stu-
dent at Hillel Day
School of
Metropolitan
Detroit in
Farmington Hills.
As part of his mitz-
vah projects, he worked at a JARC
home in West Bloomfield and at Yad
Ezra in Berkley. He will make dona-
tions to his favorite charities in honor
of his bar mitzvah.

Arid Nicole Feldman will celebrate
her bat mitzvah Friday, Aug. 27, at
Temple Israel. Her parents are Marcy
and Steven Feldman. She is the sister
of Samantha and Ryann. Her grand-
parents are Millie and Mort Feldman,
Linda Goldberg and Harold
Goldberg.
• Ariel attends Warner Middle School
in Farmington Hills. Her most mean-
ingful mitzvah project was volunteer-
ing at Friendship Circle, helping chil-
