detailing problems he has with the
approaches of both President George W.
Bush and Sen. John Kerry.
The ZOA would like to see support
for its proposed legislation to cut off all
American aid ($215 million) to the
Palestinian Authority within six months
if it hasn't arrested several hundred
known terrorists and stopped incitement
and the delegitimization of Israel
through news media, textbooks and
other P.A. forums.
He urges immediate action to close
PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization)
offices in the United States and to move
the American embassy from Tel Aviv to
Jerusalem since "terrorists must be
shown clearly that terrorism will never
advance their agenda."
Both Helen Goldstein of Farmington
Hills and Michael Fishman of Royal
Oak took Klein's talk as a wake-up call.
"I learned more than I thought I
would," said Goldstein. "There is much
more anti-Semitism and hatred of the
Jews than I thought there was. I thought
things were going better."
Fishman, who hasn't been too active
since he was the American Israel Public
Affairs Committee (AIPAC) liaison for
metro Detroit college campuses, said,
"This talk renewed my interest in pro-
Israel advocacy."
Sherri Silvian of Farmington Hills also
saw merit in the talk. "It conflicted with
my anti-war sentiments, but I under-
stand exactly where he was coming
from."

It's for the entire community, a place for anybody to feel the
sweetness of the New Year. Because everybody should have a place to
feel comfortable on the High Holidays. We feel strongly about that.

In addition to opposing unilateral
withdrawal from Gaya on security
and moral grounds, Mort Klein
believes Judaism argues against any
withdrawal.
"Gaza is part of the holy land of
Israel," said Klein, explaining that
there was a time that the largest
Jewish city was in Gaza. He said the
Torah, specifically in Genesis, Joshua,
Judges and Kings, mentions G272 as
part of the Jewish patrimony from
God.
He said it is "quite shocking" that
Arid Sharon's declared date for no
Jews to remain in Gaza, Aug. 14,
2005, is Tisha b'Av, the date on
which Jews mourn the destruction of
the first and second Temples in
Jerusalem as well as other Jewish
catastrophes.
