HEIDI RUTH COHAN, 74, of Ann
Arbor, died July 27, 2004. She was a
manager of Sheldon Ross Gallery in
Birmingham for 20 years. She also cre-
ated necklaces which were sold in fine
shops in this area and on the east
coast.
Mrs. Cohan is survived by her hus-
band of 48 1/2 years, Leon Cohan of
Ann Arbor; daughter and son-in-law,
Nicole and Kenneth Jaworski of
Marysville, Mich.; sons, Timothy
Cohan of Ann Arbor, Jonathan Cohan
of Somerville, Mass.; grandchildren,
Charles Tinker, Kurt and Kevin
Jaworski, Leila Cohan; brothers and sis-
ters in Germany; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, George and Pearl Cohan.

ASTER (BADANOWSKI)
FIKSMAN, 73, former Detroiter of
Israel, died July 29, 2004. She was born
in Germany and became a refugee dur-
ing the war. She met Berel Badanowski,
a Holocaust survivor, and they married
in Berlin. The family immigrated to the
United States in 1951 and settled in
the Detroit area.
Mrs. Badanowski became involved in
all aspects of the restitution program
instituted by the Germans government
for survivors of the Holocaust; mainly
she helped people complete the claims
and translate documents. In 1969, her
husband died; and in the 1970s she
married Yitzhak Fiksman and moved to
Israel to join his extended family. She
traveled extensively throughout the
world.
Mrs. Fiksman is survived by her hus-
band, Yitzhak Fiksman of Israel; daugh-
ter, Rachel Badanowski of Belleville;
son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ralph
and Norma Badanowski of Jacksonville
Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Jenna and
Mark Badanowski; best friend, Carol
Premo of Belleville.
A memorial service, a tree planting
ceremony, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday,
Aug. 8, at her daughter's home in
Belleville, 47818 W. Huron Drive.
SAM FRIEDMAN, 74, of West
Bloomfield, died July 30, 2004.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Lita Friedman; son, Mark Friedman of
Wheatridge, Colo.; daughters and son-
in-law, Susan and Allan Miller of Cave
Creek, Ariz., Cheryl Friedman of
Farmington Hills.
Interment at the Hebrew Memorial

BERNARD E. KLEIN, 82, of East
Lansing, died July 28, 2004. He was a
general manager at M & M Industrial
and Automotive Supply.
Mr. Klein is survived by his son, Lee
Klein of East Lansing; daughter and
son-in-law, Sherrie Klein and Russell
Holtz of Ohio; grandchildren, Evan
and Karen Kaplan, Melissa Kaplan,
Jason Klein, Jamie Klein, Laura and
Mark Ryan, Andrew Holtz; great-

Bloomfield. He was the beloved hus-
band of the late Dolores Klein; loving
