children and five grandchildren. She is
running for Oakland County commis-
sioner in the 16th District. He graduat-
ed from Mumford High (1962) and

Technology.

For Township Clerk

Sharon Law, incumbent Republican
Completing her fourth, four-year
term, Law has added new services
for residents, such as a passport serv-
ice and later office hours on
Wednesdays (open until 7 p.m.),
"and I will continue to add more
services as needed to maintain an
efficient township clerk office," she
said.
She assists with the fiscal adminis-
tration of West Bloomfield's budget
of close to $30 million. She was the
first Oakland County clerk to imple-
ment the electronic scanning system
for elections, helping to get the sys-
tem installed in the county and
state.

Law Profile
Law, 60, has
lived in West
Bloomfield for 31
years. She and her
husband, Thomas,
an attorney, have
two children.
David Law, an
Law
assistant Oakland
County prosecutor,
is running as a Republican for the
39th District State House of
Representatives seat in the primary.
Thomas Law is not seeking re-elec-
tion as an Oakland County commis-
sioner.
Sharon Law graduated from
Detroit's Benedictine High School
and took several college business
courses. The family belongs to
Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Nancy Reed, Republican
Declaring "it's time for a change"
in the township clerk's office, Reed

bases her campaign mainly on criti-
cism of Law. She claims Law has a
poor office attendance record ... is
not preparing the minutes of meet-
ings on time despite having a staff of
16 ... is not recusing herself from
voting on matters before the
Wetlands Board" chaired by her hus-
band ... and that she "mishandled
the 2002 elections," thus hampering
a recount.
Law replied she's often "beeped"
into the inner clerk office by
employees, making it unnecessary to
use her own identification card (and
recording her attendance)... the staff
must prepare minutes for about five
meetings a week of various boards,
and the Township Board of Trustees
meeting minutes are always done on
time ... Municipal Attorney Bill
Hampton ruled recently she can cast
votes on Wetlands Board matters ...
and Law quoted from a "to whom it
may concern" letter from Oakland
County Clerk G. William Caddell
absolving her of any blame in the
2002 election situation. The letter
stated the "State Election Bureau
arbitrarily changed the rules" at the
last minute on sealing ballot boxes
" without notifying her."
