Style Magazine's Oakland County Favorite
Since opening in 1979, almost 8 mil-
lion people have dined at Boneyard of
F.H. ... going through a whopping 5.3
million pounds of potatoes and 165,000
gallons of homemade sauce.
Former localites living out of town do
not forget the Boneyard ... which ships
much-of its food around the country on
a regular basis.
Seating is for 170 amid the clean new
look interior ... Seven-day hours are
Sunday-Thursday, 11-10; Friday and
Saturday, 11-11.
Danny is no stranger to the restaurant
business ... Other than Advance
Nosherie and Advance Cafeteria, he
owned Pete's Steakhouse five years on
Springwells and Vernor in Detroit before
joining the Boneyard family business
founded by his father, Krsto Djordjevski.
Seafood and fish also have played
major roles in the success of Boneyard
on Orchard Lake Road ... grilled and
barbecued fresh salmon, fresh whitefish,
etc. ... all prepared in house, where
shrimp is hand de-veined and hand bat-
tered with its own recipe.
A 25th anniversary in itself is much
cause for celebration ... but the continu-
ance of a successful format that has got-
ten better ... and the incessant adding of
food like lamb ribs ... has given
Boneyard Bar-B-Q of Farmington Hills
a steady reputation for satisfying regular-
ity.
IF YOU HAD SAID that it would be
difficult to do, you might have been
right ... Until now, that is.
After a couple of months of research,
Wes Picula, director of operations and
idea man supreme for Robert Jacobs at
Buddy's Pizza, has come up with a no-
crust pizza.
With the no-carb, low-fat and gluten-
free crazes continuing full blast, who else
but one of the biggest pizza maker
favorites hereabouts to come up with a
pizza without any crust?
The no-crust pie at Buddy's is made
and served on a special brown
unbleached organic parchment paper
that doesn't burn when put into the
oven ... On the bottom is a 100 percent
low-fat, part-skim mozzarella cheese.
It can be almost zero-carb, low-fat and
gluten-free, too, depending on how you
order the pizza ... and eaten either with a
knife and fork or picked up and folded.
Wes has also gone another step in the
low fat pizza fields ... following on the
heels of his whole-wheat crust ... It's the
new Buddy's no-crust egg-white pizza ...
with toppings much like you'd put on
an omelet.
ELEVEN YEARS HAVE past since it
began ... with folks getting good things
to eat normally not on the menu.
Now through Aug. 31 is the 12th year
in Bill Kruse's highly popular and suc-
cessful "Summertime In Michigan" pro-
motion at his restaurants ... (Rochester
Chop House & Kabin Kruser's Oyster
Bar, Kruse and Muer in Rochester;
Kruse and Muer in Grand Blanc; Kruse
and Muer in Lake Orion; and Kruse and
Muer Quality Foods in Rochester Hills.
Offerings include grilled Michigan
salmon and apricot salad, Michigan
summer shrimp primavera, garden gaz-
pacho, triple berry pie baked daily, etc.
plus a large selection of Michigan wines.

service ability with very cordial and
thorough efficiency ... The daughter of

to help her ... Grandfather Sam
Anbender founded Detroit Bagel
Factory, and, after selling it, went into
the deli business, opening Schnelli Deli
... When he passed on, running of the
three locations was by Casey's dad, Jeff
... Can't beat genes like these!

Beach, Calif., on their 10th anniversary.

last weeks of August, we are going to
Myrtle Beach to celebrate Al's 76th
birthday that was on July 4, our 50th
anniversary that was July 11, our son
Joe's birthday Aug. 9 and Bernice's birth-
day Aug. 19.
"We had a wonderful visit from old
friends of 50 years, Rose and George
Cooper. Met them for lunch at the Rio
Hotel where our son Joe Kesner, is an
executive host. Time went by so fast just
talking of old times back in Michigan.
They came to Las Vegas with Lois and
Nat Fishman."
