CD rates this high?

We had to look twice to believe them!

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
12 ounces hot fudge, melted in
microwave
Preheat oven to 350F. Line the bot-
tom of a 9-inch springform pan with
parchment or wax paper. Set aside.
Combine chocolate chips and butter
in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on
high in the microwave oven for 2
minutes. Stir the mixture until
smooth. Add the egg and stir until
completely incorporated. Add the
sugar and vanilla and stir well. Stir in
the flour until incorporated. Spread
this mixture in the prepared pan and
bake for 20 minutes. Remove from
oven and cool completely before pro-
ceeding with the recipe.
Allow the ice cream to soften to
spreading consistency (not a liquid).
Spread the ice cream over the brown-
ies, smoothing the top. Sprinkle the
chocolate chips and nuts over the ice
cream. Cover the pan with plastic
wrap and freeze until firm. To serve,
run a knife around the inside perime-
ter of the springform pan (be sure to
go all the way down around the
brownie layer). Remove the collar of
the pan and place the torte on a serv:
ing platter (you may remove the bot-
tom of the pan if you wish). Drizzle
the melted fudge over the entire torte
and serve immediately, cut into
wedges. Makes 16 servings.

CHOCOLATE DESSERT CUPS
Very easy and downright elegant filled
with ice cream, fresh berries or
mousse.
3 or more cups semi-sweet choco-
late chips or pieces
Small balloons
Line a baking sheet with wax or
parchment paper. Melt chocolate
chips in the top of a double-boiler
over simmering heat, stirring until
smooth, or place chips in a microwave
safe bowl or cup (deeper is better than
wider) and heat on high for 2 min-
utes; stir until smooth. If the choco-
late is not melted enough, heat again
in 20-second increments, stirring after
each heating.
Inflate balloons (plain, no writing)
to desired size (smaller is more ele-
gant). Dip the bottom of the inflated
balloon into the chocolate to make
desired-sized bowl. Place the balloon
on the prepared cookie sheet and chill
until the chocolate is set. Repeat with
desired number of balloons. (You may
need to melt more chocolate.) Pop the
balloon; you have a cup that's ready to
fill. These cups may be made ahead of
time and chilled until ready to use.
