In 1950, Mr. Osten opened the Great
Western Provision Company and in
1962, it -merged and became Great
Markwestern Meat Packing Company;
considered to be a visionary in the meat
business, he was a pioneer in modern
meat packaging techniques. In 1971, he
started Osten Meat Company and had
seven offices all over the country. He
retired in 1992.
Mr. Osten could speak several differ-
ent languages. He belonged to Michigan
Chapter of American Cancer
Foundation, the Furniture Club,-
Congregation B'nai Moshe for 50 years,
Israel Cancer Foundation, which award-
ed him the Man of the Year award six
years ago.
He has gone on five Israel missions
and he donated a Torah to Congregation
B'nai Moshe.
