DR. CHARLES KESSLER, 83, of
Huntington Woods, died July 3, 2004.
Dr. Kessler graduated from the
University of Virginia, received his med-
ical degree and was a member of Alpha
Omega Alpha. For 37 years, he practiced
urology in the Detroit area.
Dr. Kessler belonged to many profes-
sional societies, including the American
Medical Association, the American
College of Surgeons and the American
UrologicaLAssociation. He frequently
presented scientific papers at professional
meetings and he published article in
many medical journals.
Dr. Kessler coached little league base-
ball, was an avid reader and took classes
in French. Music and an-interest in spe-
cial cars were important to him.
In the community, Dr. Kessler was a
consultant for the Jewish Home for
Aged, supported the Detroit Symphony,
was a volunteer for the Founders Society
of the Detroit Institute of Arts, a patron
of the Michigan Opera Theater and a
founding member of the International
Wine Auction, benefitting the Center
for Creative Studies.
Dr. Kessler is survived by his wife,
Josephine "Jo" Kessler of Huntington
Woods; son and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Daniel Kessler and Cathy Cordes of
Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters and sons-
in-law, Amy Kessler and Jim Slowik of
Huntington Woods, Dr. Susan Kessler
and Bruce Shaw of Huntington Woods;
grandchildren, Jonathan, Emily and
Sarah Shaw; sister and brother-in-law,
Bertha and Al Raifman of
Massachusetts; brother-in-law and sister-
in-law, Lenora and Al Dorenfest; broth-
er-in-law, Raymond Dreezer. Dr. Kessler
was loving son of the late Harry and
Fanny Kessler; beloved brother of the
late Annie Dreezer and the late Cy
Kessler.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to Michigan Opera Theatre or
Children's Hospital, 3901 Beaubien,

HARRY KRAMER, 85, of Bloomfield
Hills, died July 2, 2004. He was a public
insurance adjuster,
who taught insur-
ance at Wayne State
University. Mr.
Kramer was a mem-
ber of the Masons, a
past president of
Crescent Shrine
Club, a member of
B'nai B'rith and the
Kramer
Jewish War
Veterans. He was
also active with City of Hope.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years,
Selma Kramer of Bloomfield Hills;
daughter, Robin Kramer of West
Bloomfield; sons and daughters-in-law,
Jeffrey and Nancy Kramer of
Farmington Hills, Keith Kramer of
Detroit and Dana and Amy Kramer of
Bloomfield Hills; grandchildren, Beth
and Benjamin Kramer; sister, Ida Markle
of West Bloomfield; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Morton Goodman and
Lillian Mackson. He was the beloved
son of the late Max and the late Yetta
Kramer; dearly loved son-in-law of the
late Frank and the late Fany Goodman.
Interment at Beth Abraham
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
