JULIAN ESPAR, 85, former Detroiter
of Palo Alto, Calif., died June 14,
2004. He worked as a construction
executive for many years and was cred-
ited with introducing many standard
practices to residential and commercial
building. Mr. Espar was instrumental
in the start up of Kaufman & Broad
and he was the first to build racquet-
ball courts in Michigan. After retiring
to Palo Alto, he served as a volunteer
coordinator of the Los Altos Senior
Repair Services.
Mr. Espar is survived by his beloved
wife of 62 years, Sadie; sons, David
and Timothy; daughters-in-law, Sheri
and Rebecca; grandchildren, Jennifer,
Michael, Amber.

DR. HERMAN FOON, 77, of
Lakeworth, Fla., formerly of
Bloomfield Hills, died June 22, 2004.
He was an optometrist, a World War
II veteran and a member of the
Masons.
Dr. Foon is survived by his wife of
50 years, Regina Foon; sons and
daughter-in-law, Robert Foon of
Madison Heights, Kenneth and Juli
Foon of West Bloomfield; daughter,
Wendy Foon of Pennsylvania and
fiance Tim Hall; grandchildren,
Lindsay and Jordan Foon; sister and
brother-in-law, Esther and Bernard
Hammer; brother and sister-in-law,
Irving and Ruth Foon.
Interment in Florida. Contributions
may be made to the American Cancer
Society. This announcement was
placed at the request of the family by
Ira Kaufman Chapel.

HILDA ROTH FRANK, 90, of West
Bloomfield, died June 27, 2004. She
was an active member of Jewish War
Veterans Auxiliary, Hadassah and
B'nai B'rith.
Mrs. Frank is survived by a son and

JOSEPH FREEDMAN, 74, of West
Bloomfield, died June 22, 2004. He
was an insurance executive. He was
also a World War II veteran and active
with the West Bloomfield Jewish
Community Center.
Mr. Freedman is survived by his
daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Roxanne
Freedman Petro and Dr. Louis Petro
of Sylvan Lake; sister and brother-in-
law, Belle and Chuck Ruben; brother-
in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and
Donna Gilbert of Farmington Hills.
He was the beloved husband for 49
years of the late Marilyn Freedman.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

HARRY GORDON, 72, of
Southfield, died June 28, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Judith

Michelle Gordon of Mayfield Heights,

Jason, Eric. He was the loving brother
of the late Herbert Gordon.
