Adela Mel Jaffe, daughter of Erica
Peresman and David Jaffe, will read
from the Torah on the occasion of her
bat mitzvah Saturday, June 26, at
Congregation Shir Tikvah. Her sister
Mara and her grand-
parents Faye and
ar Peresman of
Las Vegas will share
in the simchah.
Adela is also the
granddaughter of
the late Lee and
Miles Jaffe.
Adela will be an
eighth-grader at
Roeper School in the fall. For her mitz-
vah project, she initiated an inkjet car-
tridge recycling program for
Congregation Shir Tikvah and worked
on other environmental awareness proj-
ects for the congregation.
Jordyn Rose Lempert celebrated her bat
mitzvah Friday, June 18, at Temple Shir
Shalom. She is the daughter of Shelli
and Scott Lempert, sister of Mara and
granddaughter of Brenda Beron and
Irwin and Lenora
Beron. She is also
the great-grand-
daughter of Vivian
Kaufman.
Jordyn is an honor
student at Walnut
Creek Middle
School in Walled
Lake. Her mitzvah
projects include vol-
unteering at Yad Ezra in Berkley, partici-
pating in Mitzvah Days through the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit and fund-raisers for cystic fibro-
sis, autism and leukemia.
Maxwell William White will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, June 26, at Congregation Beth
Shalom. He is the son of Mary and Dr.
Louis White and brother to Robert, 18,
and Andrew, 16. He
is the grandson of
Ruth and Jerome
Bradley. He is also
the grandson of the
late Robert White
and the late Eleanor
Goodman White.
Max is an honor
student at Norup
School in Oak Park.
Max has made visits to American House
with his religious school class through-
out the year.
