Many of Reva's dishes are not on the
menu ... instead presented as specials ...
like prawns pan seared with garlic and
white wine; swordfish grilled with arti-
chokes, wild mushrooms and fava
beans, a rack of lamb delicately encrust-
ed with rosemary and mustard, etc.
Reva will probably bend over back-
wards to make one of her featured dish-
es for you ... She's that kind of gal ...
The. kitchen is her joy ... and it shows
in Reva's style of food that make people
happy.
Where did the name Gravity come
from? ... Jim wrote it down 20 years
ago and waited for the opportunity
to use it ... Gravity could mean sig-
nificance, importance or magnitude
... Whatever was on Jim's mind two
decades ago is today the name of
what has certainly become one of
much-talked-about culinary delight.

CULINARY CAPSULE ... It's just
a small place, seating only 69 and
simply styled in accordance with its
ethnic background.
But Jasmine's on Mary Alexander
Court, between Center and Hutton
in Northville, might have some
Szechuan dishes not seen in this
region.
July will be only its third anniver-
sary, opening in 2001 ... but Jasmine
is fast becoming a favorite.
Chef Dave Chou, also owner with
Fang Tan, makes something that has
folks coming back for more ... It's

the house specialty of Basil Chicken
stir-fried with water chestnuts, scal-
lions, green and red peppers, sauteed
onions and bean noodles ... This and
his Ma-La Chicken, a sauteed filet
with red and green peppers, onions,
mushrooms and Szechuan pepper-
corn, are among the reasons that
Jasmine's goes through so much
chicken ... already over 115,000
pounds since opening.
He and Fang opened Jasmine's
after coming here from Ann Arbor,
where Dave was chef at Szechuan
West for 13 years ... 11 of those
while consecutively chosen as the
area's best Chinese restaurant.
Try the seafood soup he makes ...
with tofu, green peas, carrots, baby
shrimp, scallops and eggs.
Jasmine's is open Tuesday-
Thursday, 11-9; Friday and
Saturday, 11-10:30; Sunday, 12-8:30
... for lunch and dinner ... also fea-
turing a complete wine and liquor
list and fresh juice bar.
