In the much-publicized race for posi-
tions on the Farmington Public Schools
board, incumbents Priscilla Brouillette
and Gary Sharp won the two available
4-year term seats in Monday's school
elections.
Howard Wallach, who had been
appointed to fill a board vacancy earlier
this year, won the election for the 2-year
term, with 1,830 votes, over opponent
Eric Rosenberg, who received 1,029
votes.
In Bloomfield Hills, funding for the
divisive Building Stabilization Fund, or
"Sinking Fund," earmarked for repairs
and improvements to school facilities,
was approved by the voters.
Three seats for the 4-year term on the
Bloomfield Hills school board were won
by incumbent Martha Raphelson and
challengers Michael Scadron and Carol
Stencel. Incumbent Winnie Rockentine
was not re-elected. Jenny Greenwell won
the seat for the 1-year term with 4,100
votes over Todd Sinclair, who received
1,086 votes. Sinclair was an advocate of
the Sinking Fund.
In the election for the Oakland
Community College Board of Trustees,
18-year veteran Judith Wiser lost her
fourth re-election bid. Board Chair

Janice Simmons of Rochester Hills and
Board Secretary Anne Scott of West
Bloomfield, who will be joined by new-
comer Thomas E. Kuhn of Troy, won
six-year terms.
Wiser had been the only Jewish
trustee on the OCC board for the last
18 years. The only other Jewish candi-
date, Elliott Panes of Clarkston, came
in last among the nine candidates for
three seats.
Novi voters returned the two incum-
bents to the board of education to serve
four-year terms. The unofficial results
provided by the board were incumbent
Bruce Bagdady, 2,450; incumbent Julie
Abrams, 1,862; Dennis O'Connor,
1,384; Katie Raeon, 1,160; and Mario
Nesr Fundarski, 322.
Fundarski has run for several offices in
both Macomb and Oakland counties,
but has not been elected to any position.
In the Novi school board race, he
responded to questions on a League of
Women Voter's questionnaire by calling
for an end to all American aid to Israel.
Novi voters also approved an operat-
ing millage renewal as well as a millage
for public recreation and playgrounds.
