they also can come down and partic-
ipate in events with our other resi-
dents. A number code is needed to
enter and exit. The residents have
plenty to do all day if they wish;
they especially enjoy feeding the
birds and baking bread and
muffins."
Base rental rate is $4,250 per
month for a private room, and
$2,600 for a semi-private.

More Renovations

While the Brown Pavilion was being
completed, JHAS launched the
Design for Dignity program, a capi-
tal campaign to renovate Fleischman
and the Blumberg Plaza, the atrium--
lobby area. Chairpersons of the pro-
gram are Geri Margolis and Mark
Kowalsky of West Bloomfield and

Dan Greenberg of Franklin.
During parlor meetings at the
homes of Doreen Hermelin of
Bingham Farms, David Gans of
Franklin and Howard Tapper of
Bloomfield Hills, about $1.7 million
was raised — with an ultimate goal
of $2 million — to fund renovations
on the first and second floors.
Work will include revamping all of
the rooms with new furniture,
improved bathrooms with new tubs
and plumbing, new fixtures, new
carpets and wallpaper, improved
lighting and many other "adaptive"
features.
Said Parr: "We couldn't have done
it without the very generous gift
from the Brown family and the
donations from everyone else in the
Design for Dignity program. These
gifts and contributions provide us
with the flexibility to sustain inno-
vative and compassionate programs
and to plan for the future." ❑
