Who Is Justin?

Michael Layne describes Justin
Rochkind as "one very special artist
and musician."
"Justin is a self-taught guy," Layne
said. "He wanted to be a guitarist, so
he taught himself how to play.
Determined to become a magician, he
figured out the coolest tricks all on his
own. Always looking for creative out-
- lets, he decided to do art projects with
charcoal, clay and metals; without any
formal art lessons, he mastered the
materials."
An aspiring motion-picture director,
Justin has created experimental short
films, with an eye for unique camera
shots. "In one short film he directed
about billiards, Justin somehow got a
shot from inside the pool table's hole as
the ball approached," Layne said.
Event planner Adam Kessler said,
"Justin is one of my closest friends and
his family has been a family to me. To
give back to them in any way is just an
opportunity I couldn't pass up. Of
course, making him happy is the num-
ber one goal."
Added Ben Friedman, who has never
met Justin, "It's amazing to be involved
in an event where so many people are
working towards a common goal." ❑

Cedar Point Trip

Detroit Teen Connection for Jewish
seventh- and eighth-graders will have
a day at Cedar Point amusement park
in Ohio on Sunday, June 13.
The trip is open only to Teen
connection members. The cost of
$45 includes admission, adult super-
vision and chartered bus transporta-
tion. The bus leaves from the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield at 7 a.m. and will return
there at 9 p.m.
