Jerry Notage and Frank Taylor

About 1,000 people had fun galore as
they marveled at the wonderful scenery
overlooking the Detroit River ... and ate
what seemed like an endless passing of
choice hors d'oeuvres.
Some 1500 pounds of lamb chops,
500 pounds of ahi tuna for the tuna
tartare plus 25 pounds of caviar, 650
pounds of Scottish smoked salmon,
300 pounds of sliced cappiola with 65
flats of fresh mangos, 1,000 pounds of
fresh chicken tenderloins used for the -
delicious Dijon almond chicken, 85
cases of pencil asparagus with tangerine
aioli, 100 pounds of kalamata olives, 50
pounds of nicoise olives, 50 pounds of
red onions, 50 pounds of Roma toma-
toes, 30 pounds of feta cheese for the
mixed olive tapenade in petite phyllo

preparation of food ... One
a.prominent Jewish-style
delicatessen ... and a second
restaurant operation whose
only likeness might be part of its name.
Zingerman's Roadhouse that opened
last Sept. 15 on Jackson Road in Ann
Arbor is strictly an American food
restaurant ... with entrees like macaroni
and cheese, macaroni and beef chili, bis-
cuits and vegetable gravy, striped sea
bass, crab cakes, blue cod, buttermilk
fried chicken, dry-aged steaks, etc.
No corned beef, or any of the Jewish
deli favorites that have put Zingerman's
in Ann Arbor among the nation's bet-
ter-known Jewish delicatessens.
Bestseller at Zingerman's Roadhouse
is the Maryland and Chesapeake Bay
crab cakes ... Breads and pastries are
from Zingerman's Bakehouse, also in
Ann Arbor.
