Alyson Halpert (Sarah Chaya) of
Ann Arbor will become a bat mitz-
vah at Beth Israel Congregation in
Ann Arbor Saturday, June 5.
Participating in the ceremony will be
her parents, Julie and Scott Halpert,

Mayfield Heights,

Alyson is a student at Tappan
Middle School in Ann Arbor. Her
mitzvah project was through Jewish
Family Services, spending time with
elderly Russian Jewish immigrants.
Along with her family, she served
dinner to the homeless as part of the
Interfaith Hospitality Network of
Washtenaw County.

Philip Julius Helfrick (Pincus
Yehuda) will become a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, June 5, at Temple
Emanu-El. He is the son of Freya
Weberman and
Richard Helfrick
and the adored
brother of Talia.
Very proud grand-
parents are
Miriam and Harry
Weberman, and
Gloria Helfrick

Cousins. He is also the grandson of
the late Philip Helfrick.
Philip is a seventh-grader at Norup
Middle School in Oak Park." His
mitzvah projects included volunteer-
ing at Yad Ezra in Berkley, at the
temple's annual Purim carnival and
assisting in the construction of tem-
ple's new labyrinth. For many years,
Philip has volunteered at
Federation's annual Christmas Day
volunteer extravaganza.

Kendall Maxbauer will become a bat
mitzvah on Saturday, June 5, at
Congregation
B'nai Moshe. She
is the daughter. of
Terri and Rob
Roth and Leo and
Jeanne Maxbauer
and the grand-
daughter of
Leonard and
Dolores Farber,
William and the
late M. Joan Maxbauer, and Edith
and Nathan Roth.
