At its public concert, "Celebrate Yiddish
— Sounds of Immigration," Sunday,
June 6, the Workmen's Circle/Arbeter
Ring-the Circle of Jewish Culture will
kick off a new era.
The 2 p.m. concert will be at the Oak
Park JCC; refreshments will be served.
With this event, the Circle is seeking
to reposition itself as the central resource
in metro Detroit for people to learn the
Yiddish language and culture through
classes, music programs and cultural
experiences.

Society Honors Citrin

The Jewish Historical Society will honor
Susie Citrin as the recipient of the 2004
Leonard N. Simons History Award at
the annual meeting 10:45 a.m. Sunday,
June 6, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. A
luncheon will follow.
The society will also
celebrate its 45th
anniversary and the
350th anniversary of
the arrival of Jews in
America.
For the past five
years, the native
Citrin
Detroiter and Jewish
Federation leader has
been chair of the Leonard N. Simons
Jewish Community Archives.
The annual meeting and luncheon are
open to the public. There is no charge
for the meeting; the charge for luncheon
