and less costly. He literally wrote the
books on the subject.
With the availability of laptop com-
puters outfitted with sound software,
there is not very much equipment to
take to concerts. A complete set of
techno equipment could cost as much
as $25,000 10 years ago but sells for
$2,500 today.
"Techno definitely is not a fad
because it allows for a wide pallet of
sounds with more
people able to
develop a personal
form of expres-
sion," says Mash,
who explains how
the equipment can
alter a composition
by changing a
pitch, tone or other
characteristic.
"With more people
making music, the
more good music there will be."
Among the acts appearing in
"Movement" are Aardvark, Alden
Tyrell, Danny Krivit, Highfish,
Recloose and Sean Deason. Kevin
Reynolds, who uses a keyboard and
drum machines, drew Feinberg into

the event, although she was a techno
music fan for years before they started
dating.
"Because audiences will be seeing so
much equipment, I'm bringing a
more natural design to the VIP area,"
Feinberg, 25, says. "I want it to have
an organic look with greenery and flo-
rals."

Feinberg says. "I
would invite
people who are not familiar with this
kind of music to experience it because
of all the styles that come together.
There are many talents from Detroit,
but there also are lots of worldly
influences." ❑
