Zeisel, who recently traveled to Budapest with her daughter's family for a showing of the film, has been creating designs for Nambe Mills and KleinReid. When the Zeisel film is shown at Cranbrook, two friends from this area's Jewish community will be in the audience. Iris and Stanford Ovshinsky, founders of ECD Ovonics in Rochester Hills, collected her pieces before they came to know her. "We have one of her oval plates with a simple abstract design manu- factured by Hallcraft," says Iris Ovshinsky, who has visited Zeisel's studio with her husband and agrees with him that the artistry is remark- able. "Since we got to know her through friends in Chicago, she has given us a pedestal dish that's black on the outside and red on the inside. We're absolutely delighted with it." Zeisel, currently working on designs for desktop pens as one of her projects, says she likes the film and the way it shows her approach. "I think I get my inner strength from the strong women in my fami- ly," she says. "My grandmother was a journalist, and my mother had a doctoral degree." ❑ LIVE ENTERTAINMENT West Bloomfield Only Monday & Thursday 6-9pm ITALIAN CHOPHOUSE ITALIAN GRILL 645 E.
