HAVE YOU HEARD... Love has bloomed for Fran Dell, Szold & Savage BBG's (1969-72), and Paul El!stein, Sporn AZA (1969-72). Fran was sweetheart of Sporn AZA (S-P-O-R- N, we got soul) when she was in Szold (Sold on Szold!) and later served as S'ganit of the BBG Council. After their wedding in November, the couple will be residing in the Chicago area. Just another notch in BBYO's chupah! Eric Adelman, Marx AZA (1992-96), was profiled in November 2003 in the Detroit Jewish News as one of "four young leaders to watch." Eric serves as the Community Affairs Associate of the Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Detroit. Eric is a past Aleph Godol of Marx AZA and served as Michigan Region Aleph S'gan for two years. Eric was quoted as saying that BBYO was one of his seminal experiences. "That's what started to shape my desire to do things for the Jewish community." David Rosenberg, Kishon AZA (1990-94), starred in November 2003 in an episode of Get Packing, a reality game show on the Travel Channel. The show is like a reality dating service with a twist - men and women compete to win a vacation with a mystery date. David lives in Coconut Grove, Florida, and practices law in the Miami area. Denise (Anchill) Sweet, Shira BBG (1991-95), is the catering director with the Detroit Lions at the headquarters training facility in Allen Park. Her husband, Ian Sweet, Jolson AZA (1992-96), is a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley. Of course, they met in BBYO and served as co-execs! Amy Jablin, Shira BBG (1989-93), recently became engaged to Eric Forseter of Washington, D.C., with a May 2004 wedding planned. Amy has an MBA and Master's Degree in Jewish Communal Service from Brandeis University and is currently the Assistant Director of Israel and Overseas for the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. Amy is a past Regional N'siah of Michigan BBYO. Hillary Rubin, Ahavah BBG (1995-99), and Adam Kresch, Jolson AZA (1995-99), are among the AZA and BBG alumni who have recently formed the B'nai B'rith Young Leadership Network in Detroit. The group, aimed at young adults from 20-30, hope to get people active and keep them involved in the Jewish community through social and community service/social action programming. Adam Stone, Hart AZA (1990-94), is an attorney in Phoenix, Arizona, for Platt Westby, P.C., a general practice law firm. He mostly handles divorce, bankruptcy, real estate and contract matters. Samantha Rollinger, Achayot BBG (1995-99), graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Judaic Studies and is now serving as the Midwest Director of Academic Affairs for the Consulate General of Israel in Chicago. Rick Nessel, Benny AZA (1974-79), has been promoted to a Senior Account Executive position with the Detroit Jewish News and Style Magazine. Rick has been a member of the advertising staff for 20 years, coming to the publications shortly after graduating from Michigan State University. Sue Shapiro, Aliyah BBG (1974-77), recently had her first book published. "Five Men Who Broke My Heart, is a funny, brisk, and honest memoir of her romantic past," as described in an article in The Detroit Free Press. Sue is a Greenwich Village-based author who also teaches journalism at New York University and has been published in Cosmopolitan, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other top newspapers and magazines. Leslie (Kollin) Pardo, Shira St Achayot BBG's (1984-88), has been promoted from account supervisor to vice-president at Marx Layne Co., a Farmington Hills marketing and public relations agency. Eva (Soltan) Footlik, Ahavah BBG (1991-95), is living in Northbrook, IL, with her new husband, Ari. Eva met Ari via J-Date. Eva is teaching a 1st/2nd grade multi-age class in Arlington Heights, and Ari is a network administrator. Bobby Efros, Rose AZA (1979-83), has been promoted to Vice-President of the Mortgage Division of Paramount Bank and will be responsible for developing target markets and initiating new programs. Scott Lachman, Jolson AZA (1999-2003), has been elected as President of the Hillel Jewish Student Center at Michigan State University for the 2004- 05 year. Scott also serves as Vice-President of the AEPi Fraternity. Scott is a past Aleph Godol of Jolson AZA and a past Regional Aleph S'gan. A Future AZA Leader Is born Tara Kaufman, Michigan Region Assistant Director, and her husband, Dr. Aubry Tager became proud parents on February 26th at 7:18 am to a beautiful baby boy, Zachary Benjamin Tager. The trio is happy and healthy and Tara is preparing to come back to work next month.
