Brittany Nicole Yaffa will celebrate her bat mitzvah Friday, May 21, at Temple Emanu-El. Her parents are Wendy and Brian Yaffa; she is the sister of Larry, Melanie and Michael and sister- in-law of Randie. She is the grand- daughter of Mary Yaffa, the late Lawrence Yaffa and the late Max and Bernice Lansky. Brittany is a seventh-grade honor stu- dent at Walnut Creek Middle School in Walled Lake. Her mitzvah project involved assisting young children at the Annette and Company dance camp. She also worked several hours at Yad Ezra in Berkley. His archery instructor has vol- unteered to teach the program to the staff and campers, and Daniel is provid- ing all of the equipment. Allison Rachel Wexler St. Louis, Mo., became a bat mitzvah Saturday, May 8, at Congregation Shaare Emeth. She is the daughter of Michelle and Dr. Stephen Wexler and the sister of Daniel. Proud grandparents are Doris and Jerry Guttenberg of Huntington Woods and Reva Wexler of Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of Flint. She is also the granddaughter of the late Max Wexler. Allison is a sev- enth-grader at John Burroughs School. For her mitzvah project, she collected school supplies for Sigel Elementary School, an under-funded public ele- mentary school in one of the neediest areas of city of St. Louis.
