Rhonda White is librarian at Temple
Emanu-El. Her favorite Jewish char-
acter, she says, is "the Tree, from
Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree."
She enjoys the Tree because "she
continued to be happy and still love
the boy when he kept taking from
her."
As to a favorite food: "She would
be happy with whatever is available."

Breindy Weiss oversees library books
at Yeshivat Darchei Torah in
Southfield, where she also reads
hundreds of books each year to com-
pile a list of recommended titles for
students.
Her favorite character is Savta
Simcha from Savta Simcha and the
Incredible Shabbos Bag and Savta
Simcha's Journey Around the World by
Yaffa Ganz.
Weiss likes the fact that "Savta
Simcha has loads of personality and
adventures the children can relate
to.
This savta's (grandmother's)
favorite food, she imagines, is chal-
lah for Shabbat because "everything
she does is gearing up for Shabbos."
