He was a jeweler. Before his retirement, he owned three stores: Elson Jewelers in Ferndale, Heirlooms Limited and then the Gold Place, a gift shop in Southfield. Mr. Lattin was born in Cleveland but grew up in Detroit. He grad- uated from Wayne State University and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. In later years, he was the president of the Detroit Boat Club. He was also a JARC volunteer and an active resident of the Fountains at Franklin. Mr. Lattin is survived by his wife of 27 years, Helen; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Richard Perman of Naples, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law Dr. Paul and Cheryl Lattin of West Bloomfield; stepchil- dren, Karen and Howard Gutman of Farmington Hills, Cheryl and Stan Chodun of Huntington Woods, Myra and Murray Helfer of Tinley Park, Ill., Joanna Rebelgale and hus- band Peter Bailey of Santa Rosa, Calif.; grandchildren, Brian Lattin and fiance Stacy Sandler, Dr. Joel Lattin, Eric and Holly Gutman, Robbie and Brian Gutman, Pamela and Scott Chodun, Jessica and Brent Griffith of St. Paul, Minn., Josh and Danielle Gross of Minneapolis, Minn., Sarah Gross of Chicgao, Sterling Bailey; great- grandchildren, Hannah and Connor Wichersham. SIDNEY LOCKER, 76, of Staten Island, Willowbrook, N.Y., died April 26, 2004. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a retired Port Richmond High School guidance counselor. Following the war, Mr. Locker received his bachelor's degree in his- tory and his mater's degree in educa- tion from Brooklyn College. He continued his education at the for- mer Staten Island Community College, receiving credentials in counseling. For 20 years, he worked as a teacher at Abraham Lincoln High School and as a dean of boys at Grady High School in Brooklyn. He then went to work as a counselor at Port Richmond High. Mr. Locker was a member of the Association of Teachers of Social Studies, the New York City Guidance Counselors Association, the New-York State United Teachers, the American Federation of Teachers and the United Federation of Teachers, honored by the latter group as an outstanding teacher. He was a member of Congregation Temple Emanu-El Port Richmond. Mr. Locker is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mildred (Ritter) Locker; son, Paul; daughters, Felice Fenwick-
