"The biggest crowd we've ever played in front of was 700 or 800 people live. This is probably the biggest thing we've ever done," said band member Rob Cantor, a University of Michigan junior from West Bloomfield who does vocals and plays guitar. Members come from Bloomfield Hills, West Bloomfield, Grosse Pointe and Lebanon, N.J. Two members are Jewish. "I think we're probably the only area band to consciously incorporate styles ranging from Doo Wop to rap to con- temporary concert music," said Andrew Horowitz from Lebanon, a U-M junior who does vocals, keyboards and percus- sion. We work as a supportive creative team with divergent interests that com- bine to create the overall product." The Maxine and Stuart Frankel Foundation of Bloomfield Hills recently gave the University of Michigan Museum of Art its largest donation in the museum's history — $10 million. The donation puts the museum closer to its goal of raising $35 million for a new wing, doubling its present size. The 55,000-square-foot space will be named the Maxine and Stuart Frankel and Frankel Family Wing, pending approval by the U-M Board of Regents. The expansion will add galleries, art storage, study areas, an auditorium, classrooms and improved visitor amenities.
