"The toughest task for a TV reporter
is to visit homes and talk to relatives of
accident victims or military people killed
in the Iraq war," Ross says.
"Some call it sleazy journalism when
camera crews interrupt the grieving
process. But what they don't typically
understand is that some of the rela-
tives often want to tell everyone about
their deceased loved ones and how
wonderful they were; they find com-
fort in baring their souls.
"It's those kinds of moments where
TV journalists receive more compli-
ments than complaints. It doesn't
happen that often, but when it does,
it's very satisfying." ❑

pacing and delivery take a bit before
full acclimation occurs. The twinkle
you see in his eye is not only appro-
priate for the part, but betrays his
delight to be delivering this role.
Still, there were times Orbach seemed
more reserved, even distant, than one
might have wished, and less robustly
vigorous than a Tevye demands.
Wish No. 2? A page in the play-
bill devoted to the song list.
After 40 years, regarding Fiddler
itself, if one were to conduct an
audience poll on the question "Do
You Love Me?" the people in the
dark clearly concur with Golde ---
just far more emphatically.
And, as the lyrics conclude: "It's
nice to know." ❑
